Computing Assessment Resources

The resources on this page are designed to support teachers in both covering the expected objectives but also evidence and inform planning for children’s progression. We have used Keynote on the iPad as the file format because of its ease in any classroom situation; it can hoover up images, sound, text and video if required (even 3D models!).

There are two key aspects to assessing;

Summative: a record of what the children have achieved up to a certain point which allows a teacher to check if objectives were met/covered. From a computing leader’s perspective, this can also be reviewed centrally, maybe once a Term. This informs future support needs and development of the curriculum to suit children’s needs

Formative: to allow a teacher to build on previous achievement to ‘fill in gaps’ and/or offer wider contexts for children to embed and contextualise their skills and knowledge. Spark recommends using previous assessment evidence as a starting point when children revisit an app.
