Meet the Power of Women (PoW) Ambassadors for the Tees Valley Education Trust! Brambles Farm, Discovery Special Academy, Dormanstown Primary Academy, Pennyman Academy and Wilton Primary Academy have all chosen their PoW ambassadors and are working together to help challenge gender stereotypes and raise aspirations!

After a culmination of sessions from September to December across all Tees Valley Education Schools, which collaborated closely with KS2 children on the Primary School Ambassador Program, we have now selected four ambassadors to represent each school. The PoW Primary Ambassador Program aims to elevate aspirations, promote equal opportunities, and challenge gender biases.

Above are the PoW ambassadors for each school and below are photos from the sessions in each school. In these sessions, which included whole year groups from across the trust, the children discussed their future aspirations. These sessions also encompassed an inclusive approach for all pupils, enabling them to explore the notion of equality, particularly gender equality. We also looked at aspirations for the future and discussed future choices for different career paths understanding how some choices can shape our journey after Primary School.

Our selection process involved a panel of people including Dave Allan, Liz McGurk, Carol and Amy from PX Group, Halle Fletcher from HR Alchemy, and Ellie Honeyman from Jacksons who is also a former pupil from one of the trust schools.

The panel spoke about the enthusiasm of the pupils as they confidently entered the interview room and they felt answers from the pupils were truly inspiring. The exceptional quality of their application forms and their poised performance during the interviews made the selection process extremely challenging.

These sessions were fantastic opportunities for all Tees Valley Education Schools to work together along with many other schools to emphasise equality and think about future aspirations.

We can’t wait till all the ambassadors from every school meet together in February on our inspiration day!
