Spark Tees Valley
Learning about money is often cited in ‘teacher polls’ focussed on ‘what should the curriculum include?’ There are lots of fantastic resources out there and we have included links below if you would like to explore.
Spark’s Money Matters has a very clear focus – the cost of living.

Teacher guidance
Each section reflects the sort of monthly bills that a typical household can expect. The lessons all begin with a video introduction and include activities for children to personalise the outcomes to their own thoughts. A spreadsheet can be used to link the activities if required based on a notional ‘£36000’ a year earnings from a job (slightly above average national wage). How much they think they want to spend can then be used in conjunction with the other aspirations resources on this site to explore ‘well what job do you need if you want a Lamborghini!?’ The ‘lessons’ can be done as a stand alone, week by week or even back to back across longer sessions. Spark can also come and lead the activities as a ‘day’ in school.
Some teachers may just want to use the videos as discussion starting points and not use the follow up activities – they fit beautifully into personal development sessions or even assemblies.
One word of warning though: Children are VERY engaged by these resources so don’t be surprised when they want to do lots of work around it – it MEANS A LOT to them
