Homework page
We have not been prescriptive and written questions for homework because different teachers might have different reasons for setting it. The idea behind the homework pages is to make them easy to engage with (hence video led) both by a child and their carer. Yes you can ask them to write a response but the conversation in the home is the most important reason for doing it. Verbal feedback is just as good as long as they watched them!

Ideas for the Classroom
There are two key areas where Intelect are best used as a context for the classroom. They make mechanical and electrical systems so fitting them into both the D&T and Science PoS works really well.
Example 1: D&T – moving parts
The PoS for KS2 requires a project using pulleys, levers or cams. Creating a rolling conveyor for moving something like a crisp from one place to another is an excellent context that mimics the system that Intelect use. This video below is a VERY basic version that you could use a as stimulus. How can it be made stronger? More permanent? Powered? Some of the LEGO kits like WeDo have projects built in to the app for systems like this:
Example 2: Science – circuits
Intelect design and make electrical systems, ones which often control large processes. This is a great link to creating circuits that can be used as indicator lights. For example, a system of parallel circuits could be used to show the progress along a production line. Each light being turned on by a supervisor as a section of process is complete. The video below explains the basic idea:
The lights can run alongside a process or better still, take a large piece of card and poke the lights and switches through it. This hides all the wires underneath and allows the card to look like a switched light system on a control box. You can even adapt this to include toggle switches that activate when somethings moves over them, making the light system automated. Contact us if you want some help!
