We’ve been back at Thorntree Academy during their Careers Week! Throughout this special week, we’ve engaged with Year 2, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 pupils, offering a diverse range of activities to inspire and challenge them to explore the vast possibilities in the world of work.

The day kicked off with Year 5 children diving into the world of PR and Marketing, unraveling the strategies behind consumer attraction and influencer engagement. Using the Reality Composer app, we introduced the power of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), empowering pupils to craft digital objects and characters for video games. Augmented reality brought their creations to life, sparking creativity and concentration in the classroom.

Next, the excitement continued as our little blue robots rolled into the school hall, captivating the Year 4 and Year 3 pupils. Amidst the flashing lights and dinosaur imitations, students demonstrated a range of successful learning behaviors as they delved into the world of coding. Beginning with the importance of coding in today’s world, we explored various job opportunities in the digital sector, leveraging block coding to communicate with our robotic companions and learn their language. The Year 4s took this one step further linking it to their geographical knowledge of our area and they toured the Tees Valley looking at the history of our area and potential job opportunities in different job sectors.

The atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm as the children embraced the challenges and opportunities presented by these immersive learning experiences. With each activity, we aimed to inspire pupils to think critically, explore new technologies and envision the boundless possibilities that lie ahead in their future careers.
